Titanic Newsboy's Identity Revealed Over a Century Later

A widely circulated photograph of a newsboy holding a placard announcing the "Titanic Disaster, Great Loss of Life" has been identified as Edward John Parfett, known as Ned. Parfett was around 15 or 16 when the photo was taken the day after the Titanic sank. He later served in World War I, earning a Military Medal for gallantry, but was killed in action less than two weeks before the war's end. His identity and military service were uncovered by researchers and his descendants decades after the iconic photograph gained fame, while the photographer remains unknown.
