Eye Contact as a Sign of Trust

Oliver Klink's photographic series "Where the Earth Remembers" showcases rural European communities, with many subjects making direct eye contact with the lens. This direct gaze, often seen as a challenge in documentary work, is presented here as a sign of trust and successful connection between photographer and subject. Klink utilized both a Leica Q3 Monochrom and a Fujifilm GFX100, demonstrating that successful documentary photography relies more on building relationships than on specific gear.
