Adobe Camera Raw Adds Built-In Soft Glow Effect

Adobe has integrated a soft glow effect directly into Camera Raw, a feature previously requiring workarounds like layers or paid panels. This new tool, sometimes referred to as the Orton effect, allows photographers to add a hazy glow to images, particularly useful for landscapes. The effect offers three styles—diffusion, bloom, and hellation—and provides controls for range, spread, and warmth, all while working non-destructively within the raw file. Advanced masking features enable precise application of the glow to specific elements of a photo, moving local adjustments back into the raw editing workflow.
