EOS R8 Mark II

Canon

Announced:

Late October 2026 body and kit availability planned in the US.

The EOS R8 Mark II adds sensor stabilisation and an autofocus joystick to Canon’s small full-frame body. A single SD slot and LP-E17 battery keep its working setup compact, though spare power is worth considering for longer sessions.

Canon lists electronic first curtain at 6fps. Announced US availability is late October. The linked DPReview assessment is initial impressions.

Reviews and field reports

Initial impressions

DPReview — EOS R8 II initial impressions ↗

DPReview welcomed the stabilisation, joystick and revised ergonomics. Mitchell Clark found the controls customisable, while noting that some actions still require awkward confirmation steps. Its initial assessment also highlights the modest battery endurance and single card slot; this is early coverage rather than a final production verdict.
