GR IV HDF

Ricoh

First release:

Announced in December 2025; this calendar entry records the January 2026 first-release date rather than a new 2026 announcement.

The GR IV HDF places a switchable diffusion filter inside the lens assembly. It spreads bright light and lowers contrast without requiring an external filter adapter. That filter replaces the standard GR IV’s neutral-density filter, a useful distinction when choosing between the two cameras.

Digital Camera World · GR IV HDF review ↗

During two weeks with a LensRentals loan camera, Grigonis liked the HDF’s softened highlights and the sharp lens when the filter was disabled. She found autofocus improved over the GR III HDF, but moving subjects remained difficult. Limited video features and the missing viewfinder were other compromises.
