Alpha 7R VI

Sony

Announced:

June 2026 availability announced.

The Alpha 7R VI combines a high-resolution sensor with faster burst shooting. Its two combination card slots support either CFexpress Type A or SD media. RAW settings affect its fastest shooting modes, and the different video modes use different sensor sampling.

Maximum burst speeds depend on RAW settings. DPReview found different readout and autofocus behaviour in 12-bit lossy RAW and higher-quality RAW modes. The checked specification table does not give crop factors for every video mode.

Reviews and field reports

Independent review

DPReview — Sony a7R VI review ↗

DPReview praised the detail, dynamic range and dependable autofocus, but found full-width 4K relatively soft. Its tests also showed that peak burst performance requires lossy compressed RAW with 12-bit readout; other RAW settings bring slower readout and different autofocus behaviour.
